Since the day the Dashing by Chocolate block was released, I knew exactly what my version was going to be. My machine's bobbin winder broke and I've been without bobbins since, but it was fixed & I finished this block.
The final NBA Championship game was that night and for me, and every other Clevelander, it was almost too good to be true... there's a litany of almosts & last-minute-losses we can recite for all the games in which our team was 'that close' to winning it all. And lost.
It is painful to watch our teams year after year. But we do watch & we cheer & we back them all the way. This series was no exception. They played great! But then it was down to the last game... oh, I just couldn't watch! Too many losses in the past!
I watched Game of Thrones & something else afterward. Then all of a sudden my husband comes flying down the stairs yelling, "Turn on ABC! Turn on channel 5!" He had witnessed the Cavaliers play to victory on the small TV! We stayed up that night until 3am watching the replays and the confetti and the trophy ceremony and the party in the streets of Cleveland! And I knew this block would commemorate our team's & our town's victory of that day. I call it, "Those Dashing Cavaliers."
